The Progressive Turnout Project (Postcards to Swing States) has studied the effectiveness of political postcards, estimating “that handwritten postcards generate an average of one vote per seventy-one postcards, which is about three times as effective as conventional GOTV mail." ... their data shows that writing postcards is the most effective way to make a difference from your own home!
How does postcarding work?
Postcarding campaigns are spearheaded by national organizations, like Indivisible, Sister District, Reclaim Our Vote, Activate America and many others, which provide the scripts people copy onto the postcards, as well as names and addresses of voters in districts in hot races around the country. Most postcard campaigns target close elections in states where a few percentage points this way or that can make all the difference.
Essential to these national postcarding efforts are local volunteers who assemble postcard packages to distribute to individual postcarders.

The form enters your request into a tracking spreadsheet, reducing errors and omissions and saving time.

— You provide your email address, full name, and group affiliation, whether you have written with CUI before, and how many postcards you would like to write.
— If you indicate you are a “new” writer, the form prompts you for your delivery address. The form lists locations for picking up your packet(s) in your neighborhood whenever possible.
— Pick up locations allow packets to be delivered to several writers at one location to shorten delivery time. Otherwise, we will drop off your packets on your porch or through your mail slot.
— If you are not comfortable with links and forms, click “Reply to Sender” at the bottom of the email to ask for additional help.
— Be sure to press the "Submit" button at the end of the form. You will receive an email confirmation of your postcard order.
— We usually distribute 2,000 to 3,000 postcards per campaign.
