Coastside United for Action was established after the Nov 2016 Presidential election. We have worked with groups such as Indivisible, States Win (*), Activate America, and Reclaim Our Vote. In 2018, we registered as a States Win affiliate, and each year we sponsor two States Win candidates through fundraising, phone banking, and postcarding.
In 2022, we formally affiliated with Indivisible. We have an active postcard group and have written over 160,000 postcards and letters since 2017.
(*) States Win was formerly Sister District
Remake our democracy. We recognize that our democracy was rigged from the start in favor of the white and wealthy. We actively work to realize a shared vision of a real democracy — of, by, and for the people.
Embrace progressive values. We model inclusion, respect, and fairness in all of our actions.
Coordinate and collaborate. We partner with other Indivisible groups on advocacy, elections, and national Indivisible campaigns.
Build a strong and strategic movement. We focus our efforts to maximize our impact, win progressive policy victories, and build power at the local, state, and federal levels.
Organize nonviolent actions and events. All events and actions are nonviolent.
Since Trump’s election in 2024, CUI’s focus has been to build a community ready to push back against Trump 2.0 and Project 2025. We helped organize high-visibility local actions such as the Jan. 18 “People’s March,” the Feb. 17 “Not My President” and “May Day” sign-waving events in Pacifica, plus more than 40 Tesla Takedown protests in Colma, as well as the Hands Off, No Kings, and No Kings 2 mass mobilizations.
We participated in Northern California Indivisible roundtable discussions with the offices of Senators Padilla and Schiff and Congressman Liccardo, and we have held monthly in-person community meetings with Zoom options. CUI has also participated in activities with La Honda & Coastal Communities, Indivisible San Francisco, Indivisible East Bay, Indivisible Mid-Peninsula, Indivisible NorCal, Indivisible CA | StateStrong, and Indivisible National.
